Illustrated guide to Primality testing, also known as PRP

Even though we use the PRP method of Primality testing we use the LLR software because of its easy to use features. Make sure you have read the Getting Started Thread before reading this page.

Automated Network Client

If you have a computer with an Internet connection this section is for you.

This project uses llr wrapped in PRPNet. You will find the current version in the PRPNet thread in our forums.

PRPNet will open a window for each core and you're participating. If you've stopped the llr processes for some reason, these can be resumed by running the correct start.bat again.

PS: The TCP ports 7100 (first pass tests) and 7101 (second pass tests) need to be open for outbound connections for PRPNet to be able to download and upload workunits.

Manual PRP client.

If you have a computer without an Internet connection this section is for you.

Please browse to the Manual reservation thread. If you're not already registerred at mersenneforum.org, you'll have to do so.

When the icon changes back to red you are out of work. Submit your results by sending the contents of your primes.log in a PM to ltd. Or you can send him a PM and ask for his email address.

Now, go back to the Manual reservation thread and post a message similar to:
sl7200000.txt completed

If you want another range, you can reserve a new one in the same post.

If you have any questions, please ask them on the PSP Project Forums.
